Your card provides you with a wide range of discounts and special offers. This includes discounts on flights and ferries as well as at museums, bookshops and restaurants. Discounts vary from country to country, but you’re sure to make significant savings at home and when travelling abroad with your card. Make sure your ISIC card goes everywhere with you!

The ISIC card is available to full-time students at school, college or university, aged 12 years and above. There is no upper age limit!

A ‘full-time student’ attends a full – time course of study. A full-time course must be no less than 12 weeks in duration  and have a minimum of 15 contract hours per week.

A full-time teacher must have at least 18 hours of teaching per week, for a minimum 12 week per year.


The card cost € 17 total including Virtual and plastic card.

The ISIC card is only available to full-time students, so you must be able to prove you are currently studying full time at school, college or university.
When applying, please provide one of the following documents:

1. Proof of your student status. This can be one of the following:

  • A copy of your university student identity card, clearly dated and indicating you are a full-time student.
  • A signed and dated letter on official university stating you are studying there full time. 

2. Proof of your date of birth. This can be one of the following:

  • Passport
  • Driver’s license

3. A passport style head and shoulders photograph

The standard ISIC card has a fixed validity of 16 months, from the start of the academic year in September. 

No, unfortunately not. ISIC offers and discounts can only be enjoyed by the cardholder. However, your family and friends might also be eligible for their own ISIC cards.

As long as you are deferring  your further study and have documentary proof of this you are eligible to apply for an ISIC.

Completed orders are printed and sent within two working days. Delivery is typically within 3-5 working days.

To order a Virtual ISIC/ITIC/IYTC card with a plastic card as well simply go to “Get the Card”, choose which Virtual card you would like (ISIC, ITIC, or IYTC), fill in all your details and attach the relevant documents then in section 3 you will have the option of adding a plastic card for an additional €5.


The International Student Identity Card (ISIC) is the only internationally recognised proof of full-time student status. The card shows to all displayed, that you, the cardholder are a full-time student, as well as enabling you access to thousands of discounts over 130 countries, as well as over 160,000 discounts around the world.

The virtual card can be used anywhere the plastic card is accepted – the airport, restaurants, attractions etc. The app is your one stop shop for finding discounts, storing your favourite discounts and accessing your card!

To access the virtual card you simply need to download the ISIC app through the App Store or Google Play. You can then log in using your name and your ISIC serial number with the letters (e.g. S064001123456X). You will be emailed your serial number once your card application has been approved ( in case you do not receive your serial number please contact us on 01-532 5694. 

From the 1st of February, 2018 all ISIC, IYTC & ITIC cards ordered via www.isic.ie will have an option for Virtual Cards. We are excited that customers will always have access to their cards via their smart phones. With the free ISIC app you will always have your card close by and you can easily check for discounts on the go.

The ISIC virtual ID has been introduced to make student life more accessible and convenient. Mobile card technology and the rise of the digital wallet is becoming commonplace for many students around the world. The ISIC virtual ID can be accessed through the ISIC mobile platform: ISIC global apps (Android and iOS) and the mobile website. We are also excited to be taking a positive step forwards in improving our green footprint as we significantly decrease the amount of plastic and paper ISIC produces.

There can be several reasons why you may not be able to sign up:

  • The ISIC central office has not received your card details yet and therefore your card has not been activated yet in our global database for online use.
  • Your ISIC serial number has been incorrectly entered.
  • Your name on the card has been incorrectly entered.

Here is what you can do:

  • Check that your card has been activated for online use by following this link: https://activate.isic.org/activation
  • Double check you have inserted the right card credentials.
  • If you are still incurring problems, please contact info@isic.org

There can be several reasons why you did not receive an activation email:

  • There was a typo in the email address when you registered on the app.
  • The automated activation email message was caught by your spam filter.
  • Your email provider might have blocked the automated email message.

Here’s what you can do:

  • Check your spam or junk mail folder for an email from info@isic.org
  • Add info@isic.org to your email contacts or approved senders list.
  • If you are still having problems, please contact info@isic.org

There can be several reasons why you can’t log-in to the ISIC global app:

  • You have inserted incorrect log-in details.
  • There is a problem with your account.
  • You are using an ISIc profile that is not accepted.

Here’s what you can do:

  • Ensure you have created an ISIC global app profile. ( All previous ISIC profiles will not work*)
  • If you are still having problems, please contact info@isic.org

*Local ISIC country sites may have requested you create an ISIC profile in the past, the ISIC global app profile is different than the local profile.

When we don’t have a photo on file, you can upload a photo to your ISIC virtual via the app. Via the menu, click to your profile screen and upload an image for use on your iSIC virtual ID. Please ensure you upload a passport style, headshot photo.

it is possible to change your photo in the ISIC global app. You can request to have your photo removed at info@isic.org by providing your card number and reason for the photo removal. After we have removed your photo you can upload a new photo o your ISIC virtual card.

Your photo may be rejected and removed by the ISIc global office if your profile image doesn’t include your likeness or a passport style, headshot photo.
